IndexNow
Tell search engines about new content the moment you publish — not days later.
Instant indexation for Bing, Yandex, and IndexNow partners
Standard search engine indexation is passive: you publish content and wait for search engine crawlers to discover it on their next scheduled visit to your site. For most sites, that wait is 24–72 hours for Googlebot and longer for other search engines. IndexNow is a protocol that flips this model: instead of waiting to be crawled, you actively notify participating search engines the moment you publish or update content. ContentGem integrates IndexNow natively — so every post you publish automatically triggers an instant notification to Bing, Yandex, and all other IndexNow-compatible search engines, without any manual action on your part.
How ContentGem's IndexNow integration works
ContentGem generates and manages an IndexNow API key for your site automatically. When you publish or significantly update a post or page, ContentGem sends an IndexNow ping containing the URL to all participating search engines. The ping is sent via the IndexNow protocol endpoint and requires no additional configuration beyond enabling the feature in ContentGem's Settings panel. You can also trigger manual pings for specific URLs — useful when you update an existing post with significant new content but don't want to wait for the automated trigger. ContentGem's IndexNow dashboard shows a log of all pings sent, including their status, so you can confirm that search engines received your update notifications.

Why IndexNow matters for content velocity sites
IndexNow's practical benefit is most significant for sites that publish frequently and compete in niches where content recency matters. If you publish a comprehensive article about a topic on Monday, and a competitor publishes a similar article on Tuesday, but your article isn't indexed until Wednesday — you've lost 48 hours of ranking potential to a competitor who published after you. For sites with high publishing velocity (daily or multiple-weekly publishing cadences), IndexNow eliminates that indexation lag for Bing and Yandex consistently. Google does not currently participate in IndexNow, but Bing (which powers DuckDuckGo and several other search engines) does — making IndexNow particularly valuable for diversifying search traffic beyond Google.
Who uses IndexNow
High-frequency publishers
Sites publishing daily or multiple times per week benefit most from IndexNow — every new post is flagged to search engines immediately, eliminating the crawl delay that slows indexation on high-volume publishing schedules.
News and trending content sites
Content that is time-sensitive — covering trends, product launches, or industry developments — needs to be indexed quickly to capture the traffic window. IndexNow minimises the delay between publication and discovery.
Sites recovering from crawl budget issues
Sites with large content libraries sometimes experience crawl budget limitations that slow indexation of new content. IndexNow bypasses the crawl budget problem by actively notifying search engines rather than waiting for crawl allocation.

Google does not currently participate in the IndexNow protocol. ContentGem's IndexNow integration notifies Bing (which powers DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, and other search engines), Yandex, and other participating search engines. Google indexation is still driven by Googlebot's crawl schedule and Google Search Console's URL Inspection tool.
ContentGem generates your IndexNow API key automatically and places the required verification file in your WordPress root directory. You just need to enable the feature in Settings — no manual API key setup or file management required.
IndexNow does not directly affect Google rankings. It speeds up indexation on participating search engines (primarily Bing and Yandex). Faster Bing indexation can produce Bing ranking improvements more quickly, but has no direct effect on Google's ranking of your content.
